What year(s) did the Sporty come as a 1250? Or did it? My brother in law is telling me he has a set of 1250 cans from some special edition Sporty. I'm considering upgrading the 883, but need to go to school on what else is required, ex. ignition module, etc. I've also not seen anyone talk about a stock 1250.
NRHS makes a 1250 kit for the sporty. Not hard to do at all. Just replacing the pistons and jugs.
Put this on the wifes 05 883L and all I had was problems with it. The bike started going thru oil like it was going out of style. It wasnt burning it and it wasnt leaking so I dont have any idea where it was going. 1qt every 1k miles. As soon as I took the kit off the oil consumption stopped. (others were having the same problem) There were thoughts of it being the motor wet sumping. So someone came up with a fix to slowly bleed off the pressure. Tried that on the bike but all it did was cause the lifters to collapse. Bike is back to an 883 and the wife is happy. (I am not allowed to touch the bike again for a long time.)
