As for the details, we were out riding on Sunday with a total of 6 bikes. We were southbound on hwy 177 enjoying the scenic byway south of Matfield Green (KS). She wasnt following the people we normally follow which, I think, made her uncomfortable. She got too close to the edge of the roadway, her front wheel slipped off the edge of the road, and she rode down into the ditch. She rode there for about 120-150 feet and I actually thought she might ride it to a stop in the ditch, but she must've hit a hole or grabbed the front brake cause the bike went down and she landed pretty good on her left side. She and the bike rolled a couple of time and the bike landed on her right foot.
I can't tell you how many times I have replayed this in my head since Sunday. It was just and accident, plain and simple. I haven't even had a chance to talk to her about it to see if she even remembers it or not. But, she has been in the hands of some great Docs and Nurses who all give her the best care they can. They said last night when I was in there that they were probably going to take out her breathing tube today, which is good news.
Again, thank you to all of you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. You guys and gals are the best.
She will definately be in my thoughts and prayers. I also pray that the Good Lord help ease those nightmares. Looking at this from a nurse's perspective, sounds like she's going to be ok. I know it's been tough. Hang in there bro!
Chuck, the Lord will help get both of you through this. I've said a couple of prayers for you too. It will just take time until the memory fades. Life is so precious. From the sound of the injuries, your wife shouldmake a full recovery. Best wishes.
