Default Greasy Detail Question

Had my bike in the shop and got some of that slick grease that they put on the axle bearings all over my forks and wheels. I've washed it at least 3 times and the residue from the grease is still there. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to use to cut the grease and eliminate it from the forks and wheels?

Because I have a shop, I use a rag, get it wet/damp with Stani-sol (solvent from solvent tank) wipe down the grease/oil and then wash the area/bike with Gunk Foamy. But Gunk Foamy, (spray it into a rag to keep it away from your paint), should also cut the grease.Wipe down the area to cut the grease, wash the bike, hopefully that will resolve the issue. I use Gunk by the case. Also a VERY good cleaning item to have on hand, brake cleaner. (Non chlorinated is "more" environmentally friendly if tha's an issue for you) Cuts grease, oil, brake dust and leaves no residue behind. I use it for almost eveything, including eliminating moisture from ignition systems, cleaning the oil dribbles off theframe from changing oil, etc.

Another vote for the brake cleaner, sometimes called "Electric Motor & Brake Cleaner". For your grease removal job, I'd spray it on a paper shop towel and then rub. Overspray is not a good thing. And, it must not run into any lubricated area!

another one for the brake cleaner

also if you can get it there is some stuff called Honda clean , but if you are in a epa state you are out of luck

you could try straight S-100 but then again it could take the grease out of the wheel as well

Brake cleaner , wd 40 ,citrus cleaner are all good to use.....Don't think you are the only one that has had to deal with messy service.....On my original 1,000 mi. service,(that I was forced to pay for at time of purchase), the "tech"must have rolled around in "never seize" got it all over motorcycle in certain spots he must have been trying to leave his mark on my bike and he succeeded because after 11,000 miles his thumbprint is STILL on my speaker cover... That is one, of the MANY reasons I started doing my own services on my motorcycle... I have some warranty issues to deal with now and I am half scared to let them handle any of them... What to do??
