First HD is the 03' Ultra for me last week. I've been riding since 1994 and still own the other non-hd bikes I bought. I think we all should have several in the garage. I'm 32 and the wife is 28. She loves to ride. I decided to try the HD and so far looks like we will enjoy it for years to come.
Back in '78-'79 in high school, me and a buddy would always try to get into a strip-joint a few miles from his house. It was a biker hang-out big time. After 4 or 5 times of getting kicked in the *** and told not to come back, the guys finally let us in. One thing I remember about the crowd, was that the age differences were no different than what I see in groups nowadays. There were a few 20-somethings, but they were a minority, mostly it seemed they were mid-30's and up. It's all what people are looking for at any particular time, I think. It's like if you buy a new bike/car/truck, you seem to all of a sudden see that same model all over the place, etc. I really don't think it's changed any in the past 20 some years, just perceptions at any given moment is all.
Oh, by the way, it was in Vegas that me and my bud got into that strip joint finally and the bikers would literally grab us by the shirt collars, yank us up out of our seats and throw us out the back door if the law was coming in the parking lot for a 'checkup' of the bar! We'd have a blast though because those guys knew we weren't there to try and get no one in trouble and they got a kick out of us getting lit and hootin' and hollerin' at their ol' ladies dancin'!
I'm 29 and just bought my first Harley - '07 Heritage. I too have noticed that we are in the minority here. Luckily I have a few friends that ride otherwise I don't know where I'd meet younger riders.
25 here, on my first HD, i'v had it for 3 years, and although i will at some point get another bike i will never get rid of my sporty, this bike will stay in the fam for generations...
wish there were some young ppl around the tampa area that enjoyed bike nights and not just drinking the whole time
