They aren't just after motorcycles. In just this mornings paper there was a story of a woman who made a right turn on red. The only problem was the "fire truck" was coming thru on the green !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
We've all probably had this happen. He a guy turn left in front of me while running all three lights (Head and pass) . Was looking where he was going and not a me. Hit him right behind the front wheel well.
I had just completed the build on my chopper and got a delivery service to haul it to a show in Houston. We loaded up on his lowboy trailer hooked to a 1 ton pickup. 15 miles down the road we got into town at Sealy(50 mi West of Houston). At the first light we had the green, but an old man pulled a left turn in front of us. Totaled the truck and the impact blew the fork seals on the bike. Had to go get my old pickup, hook up and just made the deadline for the show. Guess he couldn't see the big white truck!(My forks dripped oil throughout the show)
The second left turner, 15 yrs later, took out the bike and me. Can't decide whether it's some kind of cosmic thing or not.
Ya, lots of them (especially in the morning) out there gnawing on their doughnut and talking on the cell phone⌠not watching the roadâŚ. be carefulâŚ.
Guys, I just recieved and email this morning from a friend that her daughter was in an accident. I'll copy the jest of it. Please keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers. This is a very sweet girl and her husband is in Iraq and came home on emergency leave.
...keepmy family in your prayers. For those of you that do not know, Taylor was in a car accident on Monday, February 4. Some idiot lady with no insurance ran a red light (never even slowed down).Taylor was unconscious and had to be Care Flighted to Methodist Hospital. She suffered a severe head injury, several nerves were severed and has slight brain stem injury. The brain stem injury is causing double vision so she is wearing an eye patch (alternating from eye toeye every two hours). She is improving everyday but still has a ways to go with therapy. She remembers everything with the exception of the accident. She will not be able to go back to school this semester. The bulk of her problems now are her cognitive skills.Kenny is home for two weeks on emergency leave soI am back to work today.I can't tell you how hard it was to leave her today, but she is in good hands. Depending on her progress, I may have to take a leave of absence afterKenny goes back to Iraq.
Why can't people just pay attention and drive instead of talking on cell phones, texting, eating, watching dvd's, even reading. Doing all of that and speeding to boot.
I agree with the poster up top who said people see you but they just donât care. They pull out in front of me when Im in my truck. ALL THE TIME. They look right at you then pull out, you pull up on em slammin your brakes and they just look at you through the mirror and wave. Ive gotten upset about this way too many times and have ruined way too many days to do it anymore. When I see someone coming up perpendicular to the road Im on, I just assume they are going to roll the stop and pull out in front of me and about 90% of the time, thatâs just what they do.
Its been about 3 years now since a coworker and I have gone to lunch pretty much every day. Every day we watch out for who DOES stop. Were in agreement that about 5% of the people out there actually come to a complete stop. The rest, theyre too damn busy to do it. In fact, not a month ago we were on our way back when I came to a stop at a 4-way. I looked back and this guy was going nuts behind me because I actually stopped. When I took off and made a left, he just ran straight through it flipping me off on the way by.
Heck police vehicles with their lights on at the side of the road now look like mini 4th of July displays and they still get run into. Sometimes "I just didn't see him" is the excuse the drivers use which really means "I just didn't look".

In April last year a drunk driver turned left in front of me at a busy intersection and then fled the scene of the accident. It was in broad daylight! He ran the red on his side, i had a green. He was 3 TIMES the legal limit and never even slowed down. Totaled my 2002 Wide Glide & nearly killed me.You just can't assume anymore that the cage driver is sober/paying attention/cogent/gives a ****, etc.By the way, the drunk got probation. Go figure.
With all the left turners these days(or any other time) it is dangerous, When Im riding and approching an Intersection, I slow down and kinds point at the waiting driver to make sure that they see me( with a blip of the high beams) and try to look them in the eye, once that has happened, Watchout! some numnuts will try to do a right on red , SH*T does it really make a diffrence how careful you are !
