They're made in India from the British version of the 50's. I don't know a lot about them except one magazine tested one and the chain broke and quality was poor. If there isn't a dealership near you, you're probably going to have problems. There's only one dealership in the state of Michigan I'd look for a used one. See how the value holds up.
They've been made in India since 1955.They were assembled there with motors imported from England at first and thenthey were builtcompletely in India not long after.Royal Enfield has a long history in the motorcycle industry. They are pretty cool bikes and some are built exactly the same way they were in the 50's
Parts can be ordered online and they claim they have EVERY part available and in stock. The customer service is supposed to be excellent too from what I hear.Definately cool bikes.I've been interested in one for a while now and I think there will be one in my garage at some day in the near future
Buudy of mine bought one new in '06 and all he does it push it or take it back to the dealer for warranty issues. Maybe his was just one of the lemons, but I bet he would sell it to you for cheap.
Looked at them last week at the bike show in Rosemond near Chicago. The 500 cc bike is not the 850 cc bike the real British bike was. They own the name and possibly each year the quality should improve. Pay a little more and go Ural.
A Ural costs a lot more than an Enfield. I was going to look at a Ural but a friend of mine says the novelty wears off fast and after about a month I'd be sorry. They are only 44 hp and I'm pretty sure that's not rear wheel.
