where do the finger tips go from the fingerless gloves?
They're recycled into cow teat warmers, up in Vermont cow country. Perfect size too.

Hey Screwball I think your way off, on your description of the doorag wearers. I weara doorag most of the time when I ride, and I don't fit inany of thecatagoriesyou described. So in my opinion your list is not complete. But it is your list......Ride Safe and Often......BearC.Paw......

If you go to a bike event in the middle of July and walk around in 100 degree heat with Chaps and fingerless gloves on, you are a RUB

If you go to that same event, and wear chaps and fingerless gloveswhile riding to protect yourself in case of an OhOh, but take them off while walking around, you are a biker

If your 5 year old bike has 1,000 miles on it, you are a RUB whatever you wear.

If you spend more time bolting chrome on your bike than riding it, you are definately a RUB

If you wear Doo Rags you are either: Bald, black, or a RUB...or Gay

Enjoy the forum and your bike. Wear whatever you want, whenever you want. Somebody calls you a RUB, they are probably one and just trying to divert attention from themselves.
Oh chit, I'm not bald, not black, and not rich enough to be a rub. Guess that makes me gay cause you said so.

Damn, hope my wife doesn't find out.

Since the search function is still down , I'll post one of those -" I can't believe he doesn't know that"- questions.
What the h**l is a "RUB" and what is this thing about fingerless gloves ??
RUB is the acronym typically used by those on the boards whose insecurities are only rivaled by that of their smallmindedness. If you take note, you will soon find that many on the boards considerbeingrichto beBAD, that wearing anything H-D branded is BAD, that trailering is BAD, that fingerless gloves are BAD, that chaps are BAD, that washing a bike you paid 30 grand for is BAD, and the list goes on and on and on.

Am I a RUB? Well, by this boards definition, most likely. But I must confess, I much prefer the term 'Wealthy'.

Looks to me like you just insulted all the real bikers herewith this statement.
Just so you are aware the word RUB or acronym as you called it,is not just used on biker forums. It's a long standing word or acronym used in the biker community, when WE see you coming. But I don't expect you to understand that.

That's where you're wrong. No surprise there. Most - as you say - 'real bikers' don't give a **** what anyone wears, does, or how much money they may or may not have. Only here on these stupid forums does it seem to be an issue.'Real bikers' treat everyone with respect; unless the situation and circumstance warrant otherwise. And equally as such, I don't expect you to understand that in turn.

I remember back in the day, long after I walked to school 10 miles barefeet to save my shoes that were passed on to me by my 2 brothers, that back then, a rub was a person who had the audacity to have such creature comforts as a cell phone they took with them on a ride compared to the pride one took in getting back home no matter what the problem was that brokethe bike.

Today there are so many options of convenience offered to the 2 wheeled rider it seems foolish not to avail ones self of them if its doable. RUBS tend to be the people who are fortunateenough to have money to afford the accommadations others cannot.

Harleys weren't always the status symbol they've become today. Not to awful long ago you were the dumbass if you rode a HD when you could have a more popular and considered more reliable Kawasaki or Honda(remember something on a commercial about following the good guy he's on a Honda?).

HD has become such the noveau riche' thing to have, that many of the very same folks who razzed my *** as they rode there honda now have the softtail or dyna and chaps and vest etc..Some how they've converted. Hmm Wonder how that happened. I thought it would be a faze. Its not and its going strong. Its been for the better in ther long run I think.

BINGO! to me a rub is all about looking at a bike not at all about riding it, no matter what he wears, if you have a bike w/ $10K+ in acessories to look good at the bike night 3 miles from your house, & the bike hasnt ever beenon a ride over 100 miles you might be a RUB

OK... call me a RUB. I don't care! Finally I can affordto own aHarley, and even to put a few accessories on it occasionally. But I worked my a$$ off for it for many years and I am not one bit ashamed of that! No body gaveME anything for free! If that makes me rich, then I guess I'm a RUB and proud of it.
