Don't know the mark up percentage, but most dealers sell at the published msrp.If you're lucky, they'll give you 10% off.

I saw a dealer book(real quick look--they left it open on a desk-noticed it when I walked by to look at bikes). Only one I got a good look at was retail $23,270 and the second figure was $18,616. So take 20% off the MSRP. Don't know if that included freight or not.

I bought a 2008 Peace Officer Edition Ultra. List price is $20,883. I paid $17,900 for it from a dealer. You know they made a profit on it. I'm guessing his cost had to be around $16,000 to $17,000 for the bike.

I got a peek at the motorclothes book a couple of years ago when ordering a new jacket for the wife, list price was $399 dealre cost was $200.00. I know they have overhead and have to make a profic but this was over the top.

Clothes normally have a mark up of 80% or more.

Parts are usually around 40-60%

The bikes themselves, not much, 10 % if they are lucky.

But remember, the dealership has bills to pay also, so don't be expecting them to give you stuff at costs.

They are in the bussiness to make money, but $35 for a "T" shirt?? Its about $30 profit... $25-30 for a hat, again, cant cost more than $5..... Thats how they afford to build new stores the size of car delaers.. I'd expect the bike proffit and service to be the gravy, operations are most likely paid for with the clothes and parts..

Depends on which bike. As for clothes I don't know but most do have sales in early jan. when you can get 30%-75% off on alot of "last years junk".
