Things are doing as well as can be expected for HD in the middle of a recession. I am not all that happy with HD, the stock that I purchased lost 50% of its value from this time last year. Stupid me, I always thought an election year the economy did well. Don't listen to my advice.
Buy some more stock, then when it does turn around your average buy-in price will be lower and you will be happier.
2008's are selling like Hotcakes in Canada -- as is anything with HD on it. New, used, basket case -- anything. Local dealer is bringing in nice low mile US bikes, and doing very well with them being as he can't get enough Cdn bikes.
âDespite lower than expected sales, Harley-Davidson reports that the 2008 models are doing well.â
These reports actually amaze me! Must just be PR. I started buying some HD stock last week, just a few shares as the markets get weaker and weaker. The shares Friday were bought at about $36.50 down from a high 18 months ago of $74, and I do not think the drop is over probably down again today.
The market is flooded with bikes! I think it will be a tough spring for both new and used bikes sales.
I bought Harley stock for $72 a share also. And now people get pissed off when we complain about the Moco's management. I'm a part owner and it's part of my retirement plans. Mismanagement hurts more than just it's workers and customers. This is why people are sending their investment dollars overseas along with their consumer dollars. Get real Harley and listen to the folks who buy your products!!! We're telling you what we want to buy!!!
