Bill- A co-worker of mine just went thru this 2 weeks ago. It started with sudden floaters and progressed to what she described as a gauzy like veil over her eye, then came the flashes (all over a 2 day period). We convinced her to go to the eye dr. and she was told that they didn't see any detachment or anything but to be safe she was referred to a specialist for a same day visit. Long story short, the specialist looked and found 2 large retinal tears (which the eye dr didn't detect) and did immediate laser surgery right there. Now she is having similar symptoms in her other eye and is being monitored. Specialist told her floaters were normal, light flashes were not. Maybe a second opinion would be a good idea.
Anyhow, good luck and hope it is not a serious issue for you.
Best wishes Bill, glad your case wasn't serious. I had a retinal detachment 2 years ago and can tell you the vision is never the same after the repair surgery. As a caution to all who are very near-sighted, your retinas are thinner than those of an average person, and as such as we age, they become more suseptable to tearing & detachment. See an ophthalmologist regularly.

My emergency appointment was not with an eye Dr. but an eye surgon, and it was through,so I think things are alright. If I notice any differences at all, I will be right back to getting things checked.
Hey Bill don't blame this on us trailer guys, I retracted my statement when Chappy and the guys called me on it, I don't wish harm on anyone, and yes that includes you. Please get that eye problem taken care of because when I'm done unloading my bike from my trailer I would like nothing more to turn around and see you riding down the street. Heck if the planets are in line you may even stop and we could ride together, na that won't happen.
soory to hear that .i have known two people with problem the guy i work with went smooth. my girl friends did'nt it took hers a couple of years and about four or five tears before it got back to normal. her eye sight got better once it was all done. keep us inforumed.best of luck to ya.
Damn Bill! Hope you heal up soon and well. The twisties on 191would be a lot more challenging with one eye. I saw a guy riding today with an eye patch, and thought that must be kinda tough with the depth perception.

I've been back to work for three days now and have not seen any problems other than the floaties that I see, and I don't notice them as much as I did at first. I was released tofull duty, so the Dr. doesn't seem worried.
Steve,
Sorry I missed your call last night. I had left the phone at home when I went to work out. I was thinking about the 191 ride this summer and wondering what it would be like without depth perception. Bet it would require some slowing down.
