Had the boy had not stopped that split second, I would not have able to avoid a solid impact. It turning out as it did was more luck than riding skills. Atleast the kid had enough common sense to brake when he did.
It's like people have forgotten what they're obligations are when they get behind the wheel.
Now with cell phones, ipods,and laptops; besides the ones who think they can read, put on makeup, hold their coffee and whatever else that takes away from watching what they should be doing, it gets scary.

I dont know why some people are just idiots like that, I had a similar incident last year.
On my way home from a short ride and am on a 40mph stretch of road 2 miles from my house, A car is stopped in oncoming lane for a left turn. As I got about 20-30 feet from it they just floor it pulling out in front of me making me practice my swerving technique.
I expect people to pull out infront of me when I ride, which has kept me alive and injury free so far. But I dont get why some people have time to turn in front of me and don't and then suddenlydo it when i am right on top of them.
