Default Dyna-springer

Anyone ever put a springer front end on a dyna? Pics if yes, usual comments about why anyone would want to do that are not necessary, but welcome. Comments to how difficult - welcome, and combining the topic in with chaps and gloves and girly bikes are reserved for new members only, or if you're bored. Thanks. Watie.

It's not so awful difficult, but it's not a "simple" bolt-up either. Happy to answer any questions.

Thanks for the reply - just a couple basic questions to start with:

1. Without going into too much technical detail, keeping in mind that not 'simple bolt up' what did you basically have to do? Was your gooseneck (don't know what else to call it) compatible, or did it have to be modified, or were the only mods needed on the springer piece itself?
2. Where did you get the front end, website links, prices, etc?
3. Can you send some front end closeup pics?

Thanks again - watie

1. The neck will work as long as you've got a 1" diameter steering shaft. Most big twins do. After removing the old front end, the only "modification" I had to do was I had to shim the lower neck bearing so that the bearing snugged into the neck rather than the lower triple tree bottoming out against the lower part of the neck. It took one 1" diameter washer from the parts store @ $0.75.You might have to shave some off of the stop tabs on the frontend itself if it doesn't give the turn radius you want. Not a huge task, just take an angle grinder and start shaving the tabs down. The other "not so simple" part was replacing the wheel bearings in my factory wheel. The stock bearings are 1" and the springer axle is 3/4". I had to knock out the factory bearings and replace them with 3/4" ones. The rest was wiring and soldering and figuring out what I wanted it to look like.

2. I got my front end from Outlaw Cycle Products on eBay. I can't remember the price but it was around $350 I think.

3. I can get some pictures soon.

Let me know if I can help.
