for conroskie, when I was in an ASW squadron the only targets were submarines, diesels and nukes. Friendlies for practice and not so friendly for prosecution.
I hope my riding buddy doesn't see this, but he is prone to saving a buck whenever and whereever he can. He will take the wheel off his bike and take it to the Kawasaki dealer for the install of a tire they sell him, but he always tries to negotiate the price down. He goes to Ebay for everything he is shopping for. One day, we rode around for 2 hours to find the best price on a adjustable wrench and wound up missing out because the one he settled on got sold before he went back to buy it.
I don't waste money. But I sure want that business person around to supply me with my needs. If he doesn't make it happen, the customer ultimately loses the service and supply. Since I can't physically do my own work, I appreciate it when being a "good customer" results in the occasional "deal" I get, like if I buy the tire, they mount and balance for the price of the tire. They scratch my back, I scratch theirs.[8D]
Good thread! Personally, whatever I can do myself, I will do myself--cycle work, home repair, car repair, whatever. If I don't get it right the first try, I will the second or third try. Only exceptions are jobs that require exotic special tools or that are clearlyWAY over my head.
I understand why others would see this differently, but I would much rather fret over something I messed up myself than steam and stew over what someone else messed up and how to get them to make it right. Life's just a whole lot simpler this way.
[sm=chairshot.gif]He said STEAK.....now you want steak and eggs......
He said eggs, and gman said steak. How about reading the entire thread before making that comment, OK? Bottom line is that the analogy doesn't make sense.
