And training seasons begins. Just wait for it to heat up. The newbies will drip some sweat and be back in their air-conditioned cagers in no time. The guy mentioned might be a back in the saddle guy since he had an HD. Most of the guys I know that are going to ride to help with the gas prices say that it makes no sense to them to buy HD when they can get a metric cheaper. I told them to keep in mind that when we roll up somewhere and they see people laughing, it won't be at me on my HD. Couln't resist the last comment.
None of your Buisness. Get away from him if he is un-safe. But if you are willing to be "involved" Ask the guy some questions. Maybe offer to teach him how to ride. You may have saved a life or made a best freind. Just my .02
Well Iâll go ahead and log in on this one. Iâve seen several things done on bikes that I donât approve of. That being said, the way our laws are set up a person who decides one day heâs going to start riding can. If he or she decides to wear clothing that could leave him looking like hamburger he can. Not that I approve or promote doing so and if given the opportunity I would mention it to them. Again if they choose to they can. This is due to our desire for ârightsâ. So laws come into action and we complain yet if we see someone doing something unsafe we complain. Can you imagine the outcry if a law came out that you had to wear approved protective clothing? Look at all the helmet law complaints. So I feel bad about this guy and hope he doesnât become a statistic. I have friends that talk about taking advanced riding courses. Iâd like to take one also. Yet if a law came out that said I had too Iâd complain. Anyway you get the idea. As for myself I try to use good riding habits and wear protective gear most of the time. I do wear boots, jeans, helmet, gloves and just a leather vest sometimes. I do understand should something happen my arms are going to pay the price. Sometimes I also drive over the speed limit. I know the consequences and willing to take that chance. I have a shirt-tail relative that bought a 07 Ultra Classic. He dumped his wife and has laid the bike down three times that I know of. Iâve suggested doing a little practicing and that Iâd go to an empty lot with him to help. Heâs receptive to the idea yet we havenât done anything yet. I give him pointers and bought the advanced riding course DVD for him to use. He just decided that he wanted to start riding so he did. Thatâs the nice thing about our fine country. If it feels good do it. Oh well did this get long winded or what?
The other morning at about 4 am I was headed to work, I topped a hill, and almost ran over a guy on a suzuki, he had NO tail lights at all! I flashed my lights, tried to catch him, but he flew across a big intersection. I even pulled over to call the police in my local town to catch up with him, but they never found him. In a case like that, he may not have even known. I hope he is okay-I tried my best I guess.....

I remember when I first started riding last year. was kinda nervous, but felt secure knowing that I was on a good entry level bike in my XL 883. Never rode before in my life, but I did have my learners permit before I officially got on. Had my bike delivered from the dealer (didnt feel like looking foolish leaving the dealer). Putted around the neighborhood getting a feel for the clutch, throttle brakes etc. Every hour I started going a bit further taking bigger streets. Eventually I felt really comfortable after about 2 weeks of riding everyday. At that time I decided to trade up for a Fatboy and havent looked back since.
Just stuck to what I knew I could handle and knew I had to keep testing boundaries to gain confidance. Hell, first time I went on the freeway i was shitting my pants scared. Now I dont event hink twice about it. Still keep an eye out for the cagers, but comfortable on my Hog doing 80 with em all around.
In 01 I broke my right Femar in 5 places and now when Ive been on the bike for awhile and come to a stop I wobble a little due to the fact it gets stiff/numb but it gets better every yr,the 1st ride I couldnt get my foot off the floor board, that was scarry....but like I said its alot better now....Not as bad when Iam on the Deluxe but the FLT and FLHTC still gets stiff/numb on looooong rides....
