In the two weeks or so that I have been a member of this forum I have learned the following (I am also a new rider who took up the sport because my wife rides):
1) personalized license plates are gay and are only for those with EGO problems
2) personalized license plates are cool, you customize you bike why not your plates
3) Sportsters are not "real" Harleys
4) If you ride a Sporster with an HD Jacket, an HD Helmet, HD gloves and HD boots your are a R.U.B.
5) HD jackets aren't cool and are way over priced
6) HD jackets are cool and high quality
7) wearing leather pants or chaps is gay
8) wearing leather pants or chaps is cool and a good for safety
9) if you have money you aren't a "real" harely rider just a poser
10) if you ride a sporster you aren't a "real" Harely rider
11) you can't be an occasional rider, if you don't ride all the time you are a R.U.B./poser
12) If you haven't ridden your whole life and pick up the sport/recreation later in life you are nothing more the a R.U.B. /Poser
13) If you don't ride in bad weather you are a R.U.B./Poser
I think that covers it. Have I missed anything or have it got it wrong?

Seems like a normal post for this place.[sm=forgetit.gif]
Fish hawk, you really can get all sorts of opinions on this board. There is also a ton of good information here, and the majority of the members are very helpful and friendly. The bottom line for me seems to be that it doesn't matter what you wear or ride, as long as you love bikes you are good to go. Got to go, I think I left my fingerless gloves and my HD Visa card and my chaps on the seat of my Sportster.
Fish Hawk, I agree with Dixie the majority of the people here are friendly and the information is priceless. Keep your opinions and post coming. Anyway, Welcome.
SoI guess its safe to say thatyou ride a sportster decked out in HD gear and your lady rides a "real" harley in cutoffs and you got a bike because you were tired of riding bitch? When you ride, is she in thefront? Thats the way it usually works except the other way around. Sorry, I know I am being a dick but I couldn't resist, you were asking for it. Lighten up, what you should get from this board is there is no right or wrong it is all about doing what YOU want to do and screw everyone else. The more you are around harley people, the more you will realize that. I bought my first HD in 1984 and it was a Sportster that I rode and loved for 10 years, my next bike was also a Sportsterand I have a closet full of HD leather jackets and, a box full of fingerless gloves, so what does that make me? a guy that loves Harley Davidson and just about everything about it. My advice is to just relax and go with the flow and you never know, you might start having some fun!

Do you have anything of your own to contribute, such as a cool riding story, a good/bad experience at the dealership, tech tips, good deals on parts at your local shop, etc...
You are right in that many folks will repeatedly post about some jacked up things, but the number of folks that repsonds does not necessarily have to expand to 4 or five pages. But it usually does. Winter time will do that to a motorcycle forum.
