Here is my take on personalized plates. I was riding with my wife one day and I was commenting on the guys plate on his car and just as I was commenting on it he stopped quickly and I rear ended him. So you know what I think about personalized plates for my bike. Go ahead say I wasn't paying attention but still you get focused on trying to figure out the plate and you forget what is around you. IMHO

There is PLENTY of things for people to get focused on and distract them. Did you forget your glasses and try to get real close to read it? I lived in Virginia for 11 years and EVERYBODY has personalized plates there. They only cost $10 a year. I have never heard of an accident caused by a vanity plate. Also, my insurance premiums were cheaper in VA than they are here in NY. Although I don't know the statistics, that is because of the accident rates.
