Always loved the look of the night train. Just looks mean and bad, love the drag bars , etc. So that is what I have.

I had been without a chop for quite awhile, so I went online and started looking. Price and the parts it was made from, were the determining factors. Then, once I had the parts, it was just a matter of making it the way I wanted.
Same with the 78 FLH. Have been looking and wanting one for a couple of years (since we sold the Ultra), again, price and what it had for parts were the factors.
On the 01 Ultra, it had a 124" and 6 spd. Need I say more? But it also belonged to a friend, and he sold it to us for $16k, with a little over 1600 miles on it, in 04. So, again, price and PARTS it was made from.

My first Harley was the Dyna WideGlide. It had a style about it visually, and the apes and forward controls sold me in five seconds. In time, the overall classic and beefy look of the black Heritage sold me on that.

When I bought my Sloptail it was the result of a search for any Shovel FLH or Evo Softail I could find close enough, in good shape, and for the money I had. First choice was a '76 FLH nicely redone and looked like the older brother to my '78 FLH. Guy changed his mind and decided not to sell it. Next was the Sloptail, an '87 FLST in pretty good shape, and pretty much completely stock.

Wasn't any one thing, 'cause whatever I got was merely the starting point for the evolutionary process.

I liked the way the bags have a streamlined look to them. First time I really looked at a bagger it just looked like a fast ride.

From the time of its introduction the early 80's, I wanted a Heritage. I loved the old school styling. However after seeing "T2" in the theatre back in '91, and watching "Auhnuld" roaring down the road on that beatiful Fatty, my sights adjusted. It took me 16 years, but I finally got one last year. It took some getting used to, being not only my first Harley, but a dramatic change from the Gold Wing I'd been riding for the previous 8 years, but I have absolutely zero regrets. I've enjoyed every bike I've ever owned. It may sound cheesy, but I LOVE my Fat Boy. The plan is to eventually pass it along to my wife, and then I'll be going with an SG. However plans change...

My Wife!
When we walked into the local dealership to put ours away for storage last year my wife saw the 08 Ultra Ann and told me then and there to trade in the 05 classic for it.
I said no, she said yes, I said no, she said yes...... She won....no I won.... no she won....no I won.....

Somehow some way you will always end up with a bagger.

For me it was the "old school" look of the Deluxe, and the fact that I am SHORT and could touch the ground! I just got mine back from the shop, it was there getting a makeover. I went from a black Deluxe to this...
