I just found and read this entire thread and it brought tears to my eyes. Truly a parent's worse nightmare! So glad to hear that this story is going to have a happy ending and that both Dustin and Kyle are on the mend. Dustin, glad to see you back on here as I've always enjoyed your posts. You're a bright kid who seems to really have your act together to be as young as you are. Hang in there; you'll do fine. Very sorry to hear about your jacket but am glad it did it's job. Just like the bike, it can be replaced whereas you cannot, so the most important thing is that you're still here and will recover.Wishing you, Kyle and your families the very best and godspeed with yourrecoveries.
It's great to hear that both are doing better. I spent 5 weeks in the hospital for a TBI (traumatic brain injury) in 2005. Sounds like I was almost in the same condition. Seeing that they are already walking and coherent, they are doing better than I was. I spent 9 days in a coma as a result of my injury, but am grateful to say that I am pretty much normal now and have been for quite a while. Good luck guys. You can and will fully recover.
Dustin seems to be doing as well as can be expected, he has a nagging headache, but only talks about it when we ask. We even started talking about what has to be done with his bike. He has been spending alot of time on the couch with his computer. Kyle is doing much better, getting up, showering and walking around in the hospital and some therapy. He got the stitches removed from his forehead and face today and we hope to go see him tommorrow. He too has the headaches, which we hope gets better soon. They changed his meds, which seems to help alot, I guess morphine can cause some headaches. I've been playing catchup at work the last couple days, but I will try to keep you posted. Thanks again, Dave and Sandi

Thank you for keeping us updated through all of this. I'm sure you both had way more on your minds than to make sure all of us know what's going on. Prayers for continued healing. Glad to hear for how bad the accident was that both guys are pulling through. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Well Dustin, I don't know how I managed to miss this thread, but I did. Worked out pretty good for me actually, the whole last few days of worrying and wondering how you were doing only took me about 20 minutes!
Sure am glad things are working out for you, you're probably not feeling lucky, but you know you are.
I hope you and your buddy make a fast and full recovery. You're a fine young man Dustin, I'm sure I'm not the only one here that can't wait to see the pictures and progress of you rebuilding the bike someday.
Take it easy for a while, hope the headaches go away soon.
