A buddy bought me one so I have it on my bike. I also bought another friend one and he has it on his bike as well. I'm not superstitious by any means but every time I see it, it reminds me that I have friends out there that care about me, I like that.
I was given a bell by a friend to put on my shovelhead a couple of years ago. I took it off that bike when I sold it last month and mounted it on my current bike. When I bought my '80 FXEF my friend gave me a bell for it. I transferred it to my new bike when I sold the shovel and bought the Heritage. Same bell, mounted on my Heritage.
I was getting my bike serviced this morning and was chatting with a couple of guys waiting on their bikes as well. After a bit, one of the guys pointed out his guardian bell and asked if I had one for my bike...told him, nope, never bothered.
The mechanic wheeled out my bike and as I was putting on my gloves and helmet, ready to take off, the guys asked if I was in a rush....he wanted to go buy me a bell.
Nice guys, I told them no thanks. Bell or no bell, I know I will crash at least once every 5 years.
Put in in the camp of folks that just don't get this concept.
You should have accepted his offer. Then observed how many crashes you had over the next 15 years. If you had less than 3, it would have proved that Gremlin Bells work. If they did nothing, you had nothing to lose, and you would have made the guy who offered it to you happy. Instead you insinuated hes a superstitious fool.
