Can't imagine how an o ring could cause you greef unless you are putting then in dry. That will tear them on install and leak. Mind you they will tear when you remove the plug because the surfaces stick and are drywhich is why they need to be replaced. I'll take an o ring any day over those stupid pipe plugs. Boo, Hiss on the teflon tape. Loctite white paste with teflon much easier to use and won't fill up the innards with teflon stringy ****. Correct on the o ring pocket to control amount the ring can be compressed, assuming the correct cross section is used. Ron
