I have a 2005 Road King FLHR, but I usually ride the 2007 Low Rider FXDL to work --- 60 mile round trip. I work a lot of weekends, so it's not unusual to put a couple of thousand miles per monthin just commuting.

Living a long the coast of Mississippi and Alabama, there are only a few days that dip below freezing. When I lived in Virginia, I would ride as long as the temperature was above 20 degrees --- have gotten "soft" since moving down here in 2005, so now I ride as long as the temperature is above 30 degrees.

My staff have told me on several occasions that I am considerably easier to deal with on the days that I ride the bike.

Ride mine a couple of times a week.

About 100 miles round trip but some of that is on some really squirly San Francisco bay area freeways. Kinda takes the pleasure out of riding when your dodging cagers but it is what it is.

2000 RKwith some minor mods, about 90hp worth

I will be using my Road King as a communter when I return to work June 02. It's a 60mi round trip and the FLHR just gets a little better in city MPG than my 07 Honda Accord. Winter time I'm back to the car again.

the traffic here does keep a person on their toes, but i would rather dodge the cars on my bike than sit in traffic in a car. not to mention parking in sf is much much easier and less expensive for a bike.

Of course I live in Seattle area where it doesn't get too cold and snowy nor too hot but I ride a good ten months a year on my RKC. I'm 25 miles from work and find the bike a much better commuter option than my Jeep. December and January are only a day here and a day there months but the rest see me on it most days.
Obviously, you handle the wet roads well. A 750lb. bike on wet roads is no walk in the park.

I'm commuting on the '07 Ultra I just got a couple of weeks ago. I am already noticing the savings averaging 38-42mpg. I commute approx60 miles per day. I thinkI should change my username too... no longer have the XL.

Every chance I get I ride my bike to work, I'd ride it even if the gas was cheap.

Over 100miles round trip 5 days a week I realy don't want to put that many miles on my FUN machine. Got mine last June and have over 6000 miles on . Just wonder if my thinking is wrong and I should be riding it to work. have thought about buying a usedmetric and put those miles on it.

Gas being what it is is just an excuse to do what I would do anyway. I ride to my Road King to work everyday, unless it's a thunderstorm or severe weather. Unfortunatley the last few years the riding season in Cleveland has been reduced to about 7-8 months.

I use mine for commuting. A buddy uses his EGC to commute every day.
