So I got a new battery in March. About amonth ago it didnt start when i got out of work. My dad came by my work & jumped the battery, he had a volt meter w/ him & while it was runing it said the battery was at 14.4 Volts so that to me says its charging. Saturday i took a ERC saftety class & Had to stop & start alot when i got home I washed the bike & was gonna go for a ride, but it didnt start again. So now im like WTF? I put it on the charger & wait for it to be fully charged, hooked up a volt meter w/ the bike off & its at about 12.8 V, I take off the spark plug wires & when i crank it it goes down to about 7 volts & died in about 10 seconds (when it read about 6 volts) . So im thinkin the battery is screwed up, my dad take the battery to his shop (hes a master mechanic) & does a load test on it & its GREAT! said it couldve started a car, so my question is does anyone know what it could be? It may be the stator but the battery voltage was at about 14.4 at idle, however we didnt check the amperage, thatll be tomm, im kinda pissed cause its 68 today & sunny, lol Any input is apprecaited
Batteries can be odd creatures! There is another test which you can try and that is the specific gravity test. sometimes batteries will appear to be good but have one bad cell which can drive ya nuts! Other than that I don't know--let us know what ya find.

I would check each cell but its a sealed battery & I cant get in....Electrical problems are the WORST!

Oh!--I forgot about the sealed batteries. Your right! If it were me I think I would go ahead and just get a new one as it seems everything is indicating battery problems. I hope that is all it is!
The AGM Battery is a different breed. I have had several custoemrs go five to seven years on a battery. We used to use automotive battery testers for years and thena tester was developed for these batteries from Midtronics. They are more accurate than earlier testers. Some other issues with these batteries, they do not hold up well to being Jumped. Also early or old chargers will not charge if the battery is under a specific voltage. We have encounteredtimes when we haveto use a specialized charger to bring voltage above 5 vdc before trickle charging. Take it to the dealer and have it tested with the Midtronics tester. They shouldn't charge anything. The battery must be at 100% to test. If you have 14. vdc at the battery it is not a ac problem.Voltage should not drop below 7 vdc while cranking. Good Luck.
when you hook the last terminal up, which should be the ground is there a small spark. that would indicate a currant draw, which could run the battery down. now just find it.
Might want to try a current draw test. Thie will tell you how much voltage is being puilled for security amd stereo memory. If over could cause voltage drop. Remember to wait 20 seconds before taking reading for security to arm itself. Your battery being low after the training I would say is normal. Start up is the biggest strain on a battery. If done several times back to back is not what it was designed for. Unfortunately like a car or truck we are limited to battery size and cca.

its a softtail no Sec, nor radio, no electronics at all except heated grips but they are off. We did check the draw & there was a few volts but it read a -.04 amps,
