I use the bike more and the truck less.Simple as that. I don't care how much more other countries are paying for fuel. They may or may not be sitting on vast oil and enormous natural gas fields and WE ARE! They may or may not be building new gas refinerys to handle production and WE ARE NOT! They may or may not have a large tax added to each gallon/liter of gas WE DO (in Cali it's over 64 cents). Allow oil drilling, approve local refinery building quickly, mandate oil companies to control cost or they loose their tax breaks, cap tax per gallonat a national rate, same fuel blends countrywide. And to hold us over take all the oil we want from Iraq while our troops are on their soil. Just thinkin out loud.

Now that winter is hopefully over, I ride more. I can do three days on the bike, commuting to work, for the price of one day in the truck. I also run more errands on the bike and have lots of creative ways to lash stuff on. I put on a full seat and rack fora reason and they do get packed.
I would rather be on the bike than in the truck and I try to do that as much as possible. Even though premium is more, it hurts less to fill the bike than my truck. The clerks at the stations that I fill up at have commented that I seem happier on the bike. As far as changing my riding style, I still ride the same. Guess that is just the way it is for now. Instead of whining, I am just enjoying the ride. I can eat less and ride more when the price climbs. As others stated, its priorities. [sm=innoc.gif]

Well, I haven't changed my riding habits much. Maybe a little less 85 mph and a little more 75 mph and certainly a lot more bitchin' about how much a tank of fuel costs.

Do I feel it? Gotta say I do. I had actually thought about getting rid of the F150, then I saw a magazine test about small hatchbacks. Most of them had EPA ratings of under 20 city!! The F150 gets 14-15 in the city & can hit 20mpg on the highway with a V8, so why bother!

Ilove any excuse to ride; always did ride to work 3-seasons when itwas above freezing and not raining when I left the house. Since I got the RK, my 8 mile work commute frequently turns into 25 or more. If I have time to spare,I take the long way.

I'm planning an 8,000 mile trip on my hog; guess it hasn't affected my decision.

I'm not changing anything. I'm using all the fuel I ever did, and will pay for it. They will raise the prices no matter what, and I'm not changing anything. Why should I? I don't control this crap, I just use it.
yep, same here.

I'll continue to ride/drive just the same as I always have. Just means spending a little more each time I fill up.

But I don't spend a lot of other money on bottled water, beer and alcohol, fancy clothes, dining out, or other stuff that isn't that important to me.

Damned if I'll let the economy, price of gas, or anything else change my lifestyle.

X 2..........
I live 26 miles from work and drive a 08F150 4x4 Crewcaband my wife drives 74 miles to work one way(01 grand Am)so it dosnt matter, gotta work......BUT will start riding to work Thur-Sunday on the bike being how I dont need to p/u the children from daycare durring thos days.......Pay ta work,Pay ta play I say....

I'm considering dropping a 6 speed in my bike this winter when I have the 95 kit installed.

I changed my driving and riding habits back in the late 70's when the last Arab oil embargo took place. Got rid of the big-block Dodge Charger and have been driving four cylinder cars ever since. Today's oil situation isn't anything new. The ONLY thing we can do is just reduce our consumption of gasoline. Boycotts, protests, and looking for someone to blame or someone to make all the bad stuff go away, is just a waste of time and a sucker's game. The ethenol issue is just a re-hash of "gasohol". Remember that? Same BS, different label. I am definately doing more miles on my E-Glide and taking my vacations on it as well. I am doing more miles these days and probably spending no more than I did several years ago using my car. Most likely less. The price of oil is beyond our control, and I sure as hell don't want the government controlling it. They already make more money off a gallon of gas than "big oil" does. Talk about leaving the fox in charge of the henhouse. What is not beyond our control however, is our consumption. If you just have to have that Suburban, Excursion, Escalade or other such land yacht, then good luck to you. I hope it is worth it. The people I really feel sorry for are the independent truckers. They are between a rock and a hard place.
