I was just reading another thread about peoplediscussing riding in inclimate weather and I did not want to hijack the thread by asking the question above. But come on...I live in Texas and will not ride in the rain for the simple fact that it scares me. I just can't imagine having to stop fast when some idiot pulls out in front of me with limited traction. In the other thread it seems that there are many of you out there that will ride in snow! I don't get it, how is that even possible to keep upright on a street bike? Obviously here in Texas I wouldn't have many chances to even try it, but what's the deepest snow you can ride in?? A half inch, an inch? More than that? This really intrigues me....

I've ridden home from work with 1-2" on the street before. Keep it slow, and take the turns upright. Brake slowly; keep off the front brake in a turn. Just a lot of common sense.
It's not so bad, as long as it doesn't get packed down by traffic. If it's fresh snowfall on pavement, it's manageable. I won't ride with packed snow or ice.
