Went to me local dealer today to check about having my bars changed to the street slammers.
Ofcoures this means that all cables will have to be changed out.
Do you wanna know what they quoted me for labor?
LOL hold on to your girdle myrtle 8Hrs @$85.00 an hour thats $780.00 labor $259.00 for the bars and
the braided lines ? I am guessing around $200.00 plus $1.232.00 to change out bars LOL.
When I used to work at a dealer Honda Yamaha I used to do transmission over hauls for that money.
My question is do people really pay those hi azzed labor rates?
I know I dammed sure aint.
well like most of us I've added more to the bike than really was wise to do, but that for me, that is one I'd pass on or get some help & do it my self.
Plenty of noobs who've never heard of checking out an "Indy" shop to get their work done. Way less time and usually better service. I don't take mine to HD for service anymore. Last time I had a tire put on it cost me less for the tire and service then it would have just to buy the tire at an HD shop.
I changed the bars out on my 2000 RK several years backand I have to admit, it was challenging to say the least. Not all that diificult justa pain in the a..to swap everthing out. I think H.D. does this so folks will pay rather than do the work themself. The truth is, some folks either don't have the ability or the desire to do the work so having a dealer do the work for themis their only option. It's a ripoff but some folks haven't really much of a choice.
