Ever Been Down? What Happened?
Sure, when a kid down in the dirt on the ol' MX 125 and such. I ask as I have had a few buds godown recently...one tipped over his bike at light-picked it back up (an Ultra)...saw that-no real biggie. One tip I know is watch the gravel and road dirt going into corners-side streets and such-my other bud washed out the front end on his RK turning into a side street at about 10-15 MPH and actually got f'd up arm, wrist broke etc. NOTE: I stated "share if ya want".
All I can say is I have alway's been real concious of how I keep and maintain my bikes, rarely hotdog or excessive speed, never drink/drank when riding any of my bikes ever and alway's honed my skills along the way in school parking lots and out on the road etc. etc....Also, alway's heeded my well traveled experiencedbros. advice on various tips when it comes to riding safe to stay upright do's/dont's etc... All of these things I feel have "helped" me along the way...If anyone here posts one thing that catches my attention for the better...I'll take it.
Closet call I ever had was a cage lane changer coming into my lane at about 45-50mph...I saw it and moved/counter steered right outta the way.
Again, yeah curious to hear "others" experiences...not to put me above anyone else or to rub it in but to hear what they expereinced and also again to "share if they want". No need to go on...I've seen my share of others misfortune on the road...never a good thing-EVER. I don't talk about the fewclose friends that died riding. With all said, ride safe yourself and as said, to all a safe and healthy, happy riding season.
Second time on my XL350 dirt bike, going into town. Picked up a nail on the way. Turning left, the tire started coming off the rim and tore the tube. Bike wanted to go one way and I was leaning to go left. It went straight and I went left. Had my full face helmet on so didn't see out of the corner of my eye, where the pavement was, so maybe I could roll. Hit on my side, cracked three ribs, tore tendon in finger, jammed shoulder and blood running down my arm from the gravel imbedded in my arm. Laying on the ground, thinking "S$&t this hurts" , and heard a car approaching. Rolled off the roadway before granny gets me!! Got up and picked up bike and put beside road and started walking home. Guy in PU gives me a ride home. Wife looks at me and says "you did a pretty good job of it this time, huh?". Get bandaged, get on tractor and use bucket to pick up bike and bring it home. Sold it--bad karma with that thing!!
Curious again, Anyone ever been down? What happened? I'm curious to hear and to see/learn something here as to think ahead from others experiences as to what to look for and what to perhaps not to do to avoid ever going down. Been riding a long time and through 5 HD's never down...With riding season starting up just want to hear some experiences/words of advice etc.if ya wanna share them.
Last, Ride safe and toALL a safe, healthy and happy riding season.

My one street down was my fault, though there was a nature element that attributed to it. I was riding on backroads - and I mean BACK ROADS in West Virginia. It was fall, and after a rain storm. The road was literally covered with wet leaves. I did not give this enough respect and lost traction and had a lowside.
Never down on the street/road in 35 years of riding many street bikes....
5 HD's (2 Sportsters, Softail, Ultra and now Electra Glide)...
have logged roughly 60k+ miles in all those years too.
I learned to be very careful when taking off and menuevering the bike around parking lots and driveways and schit like that. Backing up.....whatever. It only takes a split second and once the thing starts to go it can be a little difficult to rectify the situation.
On the sunny side I found out that I can lift the thing up if I have to.....adreanalin kinda kicks in.
Only a small ding on one of the pipes and one of the mirrors. I feel it adds charecter.
good luck

Second (sort of my fault again), a teenager pulled out from the right, I'm in the second lane. I had looked down for a second at my speedo or something. Looked up and there he was. Over reacted and hit the front brake too hard, washed out the front and rode it down at about 30. Let the bike go, rolled twice and stood up watching the bike slide on the left side, pop up and over onto the right and slide some more. Very little road rash on me.
