Is there a major difference between the long stock antennas on the Ultra's, or the cooler looking shorty antennas you can buy. can you get the same reception with the shorty's.
I have the hidden antenna on my RG ( no CB ), and one of the bands on the radio ( AM band probably, but it may have been FM ) lost reception in the parking garage at work. It worked fine when I had the stock antenna.
I'm still glad I don't have the antenna in the way, but I don't use the radio much.
Somebody did an unscientific comparison between the long stock antennas and the J&M ones. He found that there was no difference for the AM/FM side, but that the CB was a little bit (like .2 mile) less efficient than stock.
I run J&M's and they work just fine. Range on the CB is about two miles. I can pick up Las Vegas FM stations here in St George on the shorties. (100 miles).[8D]
