Default New to Harley... little price check help request

I am looking to buy my first HD. I realize this question probably comes up a lot so I appolgize for the newb question up front. I found a 2008 Heritage with 1300 miles on it. The bike is stock. He says it is set up like a fat boy,if that makes sense. The guy is asking $17,500. Is that a good price or should I keep shopping?

Thanks for all the help in advance.

PS... although this will be my first HD it is not my first bike. I am currently riding a Ducati 999s so I need a good two-up bike and I can't think of a better one then a Harley.

A good price is one in which the buyer feels good on the way home with his new vehicle. So if you got the bike for that price would you feel good driving your new bike home? If you say yes then it's a good deal.

You can buy a new one from $17,900 to $18,600 (depending on the color option), plus setup fees. So the price is okay, but you're certainly not getting a huge bargain.........tell him $16,000 and see what he says

Does it have all of the Heritage equipment? Heritage saddlebags are about $900. Backrest and pad. Windshield. Lightbar and lights. Fat Boy doesn't have those things, stock Heritage does. Not a very good deal if those things are gone.

Well, since most people say you lose at least 20% (usually more, though) as soon as you drive it off the lot, let's see:

If it was a 2 tone, MSRP was $18,600. Add 345 for security, 300 of freight and you get $19,245. Take 20% off that and you're at $15,396.

I'd go with a new one.

I have to agree. It may or may not be worth the price, but you can buy a new one for that. If you knew what you were looking at and knew what you would want to do with it then it might be a good price. Seeing as you don't you ought to, at least, go see what it would cost you to buy a new bike. Who knows? You might decide a sportster is what you really like best and save $10k.
