To be safe I always look for what my escape route is going to be if someones is not going to stop. Keep my eyes on the traffic coming up from behind until ther're stopped. Then I'll not worry about being in first or neutral. But all the time I'm doing this I think it's more important to look cool, then I worry about the other stuff.
please be careful doing this on your bike. I was in a cage 4 yrs ago with a car stopped in front and behind me, guy in a small chevy blazer hit the car behind me knocked me into th ecar in front of me, totaled all three cars. He was going 60 on a cell in construction zone and never looked up. I had no idea what hit me until i got out. now even in cages i sit and watch the mirror behind me no matter where i am.
Take a break from the grips and neutral it at known long stop lights. Short lights or stop signs...1st it. Some folks have p*ssy clutches and can afford to to put in first ALL the time.
But ALWAYS KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE MIRRORS.
