Stopping windshield buffeting?

Stopping windshield buffeting?
OK, let me start by saying I'M NOT INTERESTED IN THE VEST SOLUTION.
I'm a woman and mens' vests just do not fit me, and secondly, I wear a mesh jacket in the summer and adding a vest in the sweltering S. Louisiana swampy heat is just not gonna happen.
So, with that in mind - what will work. I'm on a 3.3gal tank sporty. I have a memphis slim shade. Do the lowers work? The buffeting is definately caused by wind coming upwards - if I put my arm across my chest it really helps. If anyone has the lowers and they work - is there a special way to angle/mount them, that makes a difference.
I wear a half helmet most of the time - I take the visor off, not that it makes much of a difference.
Is there anything else y'all can tell me to help?
Thanks
Eva

Lower may help...if you can find any that fit a Sporty...I had similar issues on my FXSTC and ended up just taping some stiff cardboard home made lowers to the bottom corners of the windscreen...worked!

Eva,
Yes, the wind is coming from underneath. I had the same problem with my Wide Glide and I couldn't find any lowers for it. I actually rode with my feet on the rear pegs when I was on the Interstate.
If Harley doesn't make lowers for your bike you may have to search the aftermarket. I'd be willing to bet that anything you add to block the air from below is gonna help.
Good luck!

[sm=icon_beat.gif]Bad Ape!
I'm not sure if this would work for you, but my brother had gotten some wind deflectors for his Vstar that he claims reduces that. Just a thought.

Lose the windscreen.... trade in your Half-A-Harley for a Big Twin..... or get a convertible car.....

I live in Florida myself so I know all to well the heat you deal with during the summer. I rarely use a windshield unless I am going to make a long trip on the interstate to keep the rocks, sand, and 747 sized dragonflies out of my way. I found this link about the Laminar LIP and it looks like a cool way to help with buffeting. I don't have one myself, but was seriousely thinking of getting one.

Personally I think on certain setups lowers are a waist of money. I had a full windshield with lowers on my other bike and the buffeting was still there. If I moved my head just 2 inches forward behind the shield it was smooth as ice. I think this Laminar lip does the same thing, kicks the airflow up and over your head instead of circulating it right on top of your head. Some folks don't like the way it looks, but I don't think it looks all that bad and it's said to work.
