"Help", I love my 06 Deluxe----except the buffeting. Low windshield is ok, but around 60mph the buffeting starts. Traveling down the inerstate at 60-65 I put my legs around the tank and rest feet on engine gard ( no highway pegs yet) the buffeting stopped.----So do I need shorter shield or---some type of lowers under windshield? I use full face helmet.
Thanks, for any help. Lady rider. LJC
I would recommend the HD chrome lowers on the fork legs -- makes a big difference and helps cut down the wind a lot. I use a full face and it's 100% better with those lowers on. I ride a lot w/my face shield up as it also helps cut down the buffeting. JP Cycles also has some lowers that may be helpful. Good luck!
If your legs around the tank are stopping the buffeting, then the air is coming under the windshield, not over it, so the height of your windshield is not the problem. I would try the lowers. They have worked well for us.
The problem many have with the lowers is that in the summer they deflect the wind passing under your butt and let the heat from the engine come up and cook your legs and butt. The AeroVest will do the same as the deflectors except it does it from the chest up and does not do anything below the chest. I will send you a vest if you wish for free to try, if you like it, pay for it and if not, just send it back, that is how sure I am that you will like it. Go to the ad on the right and click on it, there is a video so you can see if it is the problem you have, I think it is. I have a number of customers so far with Deluxes that swear by their vests ---cheers---jack
