Try looking them in the eye, balling up your fists and snarling, "What the hell's that supposed to mean?"

I had a meteric bike pull up to me awhile ago and say, "Hey, nice bike!" I said, "thanks". He kept looking at me waiting for me to complement back. It never happened. DOH!
