I have a 2001 rkc, my *** gets sore along with wifes after 100 miles or before, is this typical for a stock seat? I was thinking about purchasing a mustang seat, does anyone have any imput they can give me!
It's been my experience that a stock seat on any motorcycle is about worthless. It's one of the first things most owners change and is a source of many new purchases at the dealership. You can buy an aftermarket seat or have the stock one reworked at an upholstery shop for far less than the cost of a new and "better" HD seat. That's not to say that HD doen't offer comfortable seats, but we all know that anything with a HD name or logo on it is generally overpriced.
Put me down as a vote for Sundowner. I went with the solo seat with the option to add a passenger pillion if ever needed. Up to this point all the riding I do is always comfortable. Last fall the wife and I took a trip that was about 2.5 hour one way. I could've gone the whole way non-stop. She has an '05 Softail Deluxe and it seemed like we were stopping every 15 minutes.
I have a Mustang Solo and pax pillon, and while I find it great around town up to an hour, I found out that on long distance its not the seat for me (at least for my build).
I am sending out my HD Tallboy seat to be reworked and hope it returns to be the seat I have been looking for to travel 100's of miles with.
If it does, and you feel you want to try a Mustang seat I will make you a killer deal on mine, It fits roadking/roadglide frames and is tip top condition but it just isnt for me.
Have a 2006 Roadking standard that will be ready according to the HD Dealer 03/27/06. It comes standard with a studded Sundowner seat. Seating is very very important to wife and to me. Is this seat any good or should I go ahead and order the other Sundowner seat. On HD's web site it lists 2 different Sundowner seats, plain and the studded. Thanks for any suggestions and help.
