Good thread. \\; As someone that is \\;relatively new to HD, I have also been alarmed at how "insecure" the bike feels when it is on the sidestand.
 \\;
I will try leaving it in first gear and turning the handlebars to the left.
 \\;
Thanks.

When I park my eg classic I will throw the stand down and while holding in the clutch, because I park it in first, I keep my foot against the stand and roll the bike backwards a little to make sure the stand is in the locked position.
I think there was a recall on Harleys back in the 80's! They found that they tipped over if you stoped at intersections and failed to put your feet down...........Sorry! I couldn't resist!

The jiffy stand locks in place only when the bike is fully resting upon it. You may have gotten off the bike before the locking tab was in the notch and the bike just slowly edged forward until it fell. Once that stand is locked it is nearly impossible to move the bike forward and off of it. I have actually tried to push my bike forward on the jiffy and could not. It is the best stand made in my humble opinion. Just to be on the safe side have your stand checked out in case it has something wrong with it. Your owners manual should explain how the jiffy works and you could check it out yourself.
Glad ya got that over with. \\; \\; \\; Now ya can go on to bigger and better " little disasters". \\; \\; \\; Yes, they \\;are out there!
My buddy, who may or may not be on this forum, dropped his FB on the showroom floor before he bought it. \\; The stand just folded on him. \\; Bottom line, it happens now go ride.
