Default Question....

Still waiting to sign the papers on my 06 Street Bob, once the parts that I ordered come in and they can do the whole bike at the same time. Should be next week or two. Question is, and hope I don't sound like an idiot....I just don't know as I'm new to the game so to speak. Do I take the extended warranty or not? Bike comes with the 2 year, but obviously the salesguy and finance guy recommended it. I know they make more money, but if it's a good thing to have then I don't mind paying the extra cost. They said I would want the warranty if ever anything major went wrong or if I sold the bike within the warranty the future buyer would always gravitate to the warrantied bike. Thanks for the replies and advice! [8D]

I think it makes sense. If you need something done under warranty you can bet it will cost more than the extra coverage does. My RK runs out in May. With almost 50K miles I know that if I blow my motor or trash the trans between now and then it will cost me $50. After that who knows?

I did the extended warranty. Got an 03 with 35,000 miles still covered. There is a guy on another board, MarkCuda with 170,000 on an 03 Ultra. Recently he spun a berring and toasted his engine. Extended warrenty gave him a new engine!

Thanks gents. So far it's 2-0 in favor of the extended warranty. It doesn't change the monthly payment too much so it isn't the money issue, I just don't want to feel like I'm being taken. The dealer I'm going thru so far has been real nice to me, even 18 months ago when I just started kickin the tires. They knew I wasn't ready to buy then, but still gave me as much time as needed when I asked questions.

If you are a high mileage rider you can't beat the warranty.......if you are like me (2-3000 miles a year) put the cash into maintenance. I bought a 6 year warranty for my boat (only used it 1 time because I maintain it and low hours) but I bought a 7 year warranty for my suburban and I am up $300 bucks already in repairs and have 3 years and 55,000 miles to go. Tough call. But if you will keep the bike less than 5 years and 30,000 miles your better off without it.[] IMHO

I also bought the warranty, including wheels and tires, seven years total. May not ever use it, but there are some extremely expensive components running this thing.

It all depends.

They make money on warrenties, it is a business.

Pretend you are in vegas and gamble.

You can pay us now(pay for warrenty) Or maybe MAYBE pay us more later.

It does give you peice of mind but you will most likely never use it.

This doesnt help does it[&:]
