You can do what we did and go three weeks after bike week. Great riding no crowds and T-Shirts are all half price. \\; My tops were Deadwood and Crazy Horse.If you're not from mountain country Spearfish caynyon is a great ride.

Custer State Park, Needles Highway, Iron Mountain Road and Spearfish Canyon is a great ride. Ride through Nemo (Nemo Rd) and stop at Nemo Ranch then Big Momma's for a beer and pics of the landscape. My wifes folks used to own it back in the day. We stop there every year and it never gets old.

Pig Tail Bridge, Black Hills, Hulett Wyoming for "No Panties Wednesday"
Ride Custer State Park (First Day) EARLY...later in the week the buffalo take off and you will not see them.
Bikers run em off.

Wind Cave is pretty interesting. \\; Just got back from there last week. \\; Beautiful country. \\; Watch out for Bison in the park though. \\; They are fricken' HUGE!!!!

If you're coming from the east (most do) forget I-90. Once you hit Presho or Murdo, head south to US 18, then take that west all the way to Hot Springs, then up to Custer Park. Be sure to take a side trip to Wounded Knee. Hell, you'll see more badlands down there than in Badlands NP. You'll see the *real* west and won't regret giving Wall Drug a miss.
