Beware bubbasbrake.com
I recently picked up a solo seat kit, luggage rack, and extended brake and shift levers from Bubba's Brake (www.bubbasbrake.com). The ordering process went smoothly enough and they even gave me a package discount, but when the parts arrived, I started wondering just how much of a discount I really received. The brake and shift levers were in good shape, as was the luggage rack, but the seat rail was another story entirely. The welds were a long way from neat and clean, but I could have lived with that. What made the rail unacceptable were the large gouges along its edges, the worst of which were dead center on top of the lower barl. Judging by the condition of the chrome on these gouges, the damage appears to have happened before plating. I understand that these things happen, and wasn’t particularly upset at the time of arrival, and I sent a polite email requesting a replacement. Soon thereafter, I received a reply saying that replacing the rail wouldn't be a problem. Then nothing happened. I sent another email a couple of days later, no reply. Another email two days after that, no reply. This went on for weeks until I finally gave up on contacting them and made a call to local builder Santiago Chopper(www.santiagochopper.com), who will be fabbing up a new rail for me at additional expense. I spent nearly $1200 on the seat, levers, and luggage rack. Not an incredible amount of money by Harley aftermarket standards, but not pocket change for someone in my tax bracket. Apparently, that kind of money is not enough to buy quality products or cooperative customer service. Lesson learned the hard way, unfortunately. Just a word to the wise, if you are going with a sprung solo seat, look elsewhere.
