building a bike aside, id take the sps over a new harley anyday. im just not into that computerized efi stuff,me i like my bikes simple easy to work on. i also like that the sps bikes come with evo harley motors!! my fav!!
I have always built my own rides, but I saw a Sucker Punch 3 mo ago and had to have it. I bought the swinger model (it's the only one with rear suspension). I f***cking love it. I got a great deal on it, and it was nice to just hop on and ride a tricked out bike for a change. I still plan on building another one, cause its my hobby. But for now... I love the Swinger. I changed the bars, and the only thing I will change is the seat. Its nice for around town, but not so much for long rides.
Cool ride. You might be able to find a good used one since they have been out for a while.
by the time you click on the options to make the SPS anywhere near what is just sitting on the Moco showroom floor, you are up to $30k. Twenty large doesn't even get you passenger footpegs. And I get it - a bare bones bobber shouldn't have them anyway. But, a bare bones bobber shouldn't have damn near a CVO price. Crazy!
Even an old thread still has good info in it and always more good info that is usually added regardless of how old it is.
I'm old too and I still have some useful......OK, that's not a good comparison I guess but I got no problem with an old thread coming back to life. Unless of course it's wanting to know if anybody is going to a bike night in a couple days (from when it was originally posted) or something like that.
I agree about the price. Mine would have been close to $27k. However, I caught a dealer that still had a new 08' in stock (in Oct of 12). It had sat up a while and had a dead battery, dirty gummed up carb, and a scratch in the paint. I payed in the neighbor hood of $12k. For that price I'll rebuild the carb myself. I couldn't have bought the parts for that, let alone the bike put together and running, with a kick *** paint job.
It's a no-brainer. Go for the Harley. Even though SPS makes some great lookin' sleds...waddaya do when something breaks in the middle of no-***-where? Who's gonna work on it, & where're you gonna get parts? The resale ain't gonna be anywhere NEAR a Davidson, and besides--chopper/bobbers are only cool if YOU build them yourself.

I hear you about who is gonna work on it. It uses harley ectronics. Harley controlls, and pretty much everything else on it is harley after market. So Harley stuff will bolt on to it. I had one issue when I first bought it with a switch but it was fixed, by an idependant bike shop, and SPS covered it under warranty. So I'm happy with it.
Also, its not a bobber, it has a swing arm and rear shocks, thats why its call the Swinger. The frame is the old 60's-70's style FL/FLH. I have built bikes in the past. I didn't build this one, but it is still pretty cool. I have seen a lot of motorcycles out there that other people ride, that I didn't build, but they all look cool too. Mater of fact most of my friends ride Harleys, but they didn't build them; Harley Davidson did, and their bikes are pretty cool too.
