 \\;If was to look/study the MSDS on Syn3 one will notice it is a semi synthetic. A few techs on another site have overhauled trannies run on Syn3, htey said it wasn't pretty. And if it was so foolproof why did harley go to an improved trans and primary fluid. Somebody help me out here but aren't the viscosity ratings different for gear oil and motor oil?

Well all I know (and I know a lot) is I replaced the syn3 garbage in my tranny with the mobil1 tranny lube and it shifts smoother and quieter.

I might be wrong, I have been once or twice before, but I thought Harley was NOT recommending syn3 in the tranny. They did when it was first offered but then changed their minds on it. They now recommend a tranny, gear lube. Check what comes in the new screaming eagles.
