My local Kawasaki / Honda / KTM / Suzuki dealer told me they can't assemble the scooters fast enough. \\; They're selling them before they can get them out of the crates and not the 50cc DUI cycles, the 125cc to 650cc sizes.

I checked the MPG on my Sporty this week. \\; 43 city, 53 hwy.
Also have a Kawasaki KLX250 that is probably getting 60-65 mpg.

If I had to choose between a scooter and my Heritage and I had to get 75 miles per gallon. I would push the Heritage for about 37 miles and ride 38 miles before I would ride a scooter. Call it like I see it. Ride approximately 30 minutes push for a week. Make for a long time going to the store.
I guess I never meant to imply that I wanted Harley-Davidson branded scooters or small bikes as my idea. What I was pushing was a NEW brand under the Harley-Davidson family building smaller displacement rides. Call it Eagle Motorcycles and make smaller cruiser style bikes that go for 3-5 grand and grab more market share into that segment. The Big 4 Japanese makers have this market nailed, but if you build a USA version thats part of the HD family, people that would normally go to the Big 4 might just stop into the new brand dealer to check out the new Harley inspired 500CC cruiser!
Just like when AMF took over Harley and built snowmobiles, another bad idea. Now that's some old chit....
OMG, is my statement of NOT using the Harley-Davidson brand for my idea of a new brant not getting through in my posts? Im all for starting a NEW brand. You know, kinda like how Buell is? Sheesh....
My wife loves the scooter and is having a blast riding the thing. \\; \\; \\; The fact she is only 2.5 miles from home to work makes the ride fun and she travels on no road with a speed limit above \\;35. \\; \\; \\; So the scooter is a perfect fit for her. \\; \\; Getting 75 to 80 miles per gallon is much better then her taking the van which gets 21 so it will be a cost savings rather quickly.....
