Shammyone, that sux, my great dane got away once when she was young and you woulda thought I lost my first born...then she came slinking around the corner 18 hours later thinking she was in trouble. \\; Although she doesn't necessary LIKE it, this is why I exposed her to firearms while still a puppy...with as much as I hunt, shoot and blow crap up, I couldn't have a gun-shy dog.
 \\;
Are you gonna crop his ears? \\; My last Boxer kept ear infections. \\; My next one I think I'll do the tail but not the ears.
 \\;
Had my last one for 14 years. \\; He was prone to epileptic \\;type seizures. It was like losing a son...
A little late for you now, but for other pet owners, when you expect something like fireworks, I put our dog in an interior room, like a bathroom, with a radio on to drown out the noise and keep them from running away. \\;\\\\\\; I've even heard of dogs getting so frightened they've jumped right through windows. \\;\\\\\\; The house we used to own was close to where they did a \\;\\\\\\;fireworks show, and I found and caught at least one dog every year that was running scared. \\;\\\\\\;
 \\;\\\\\\;
Good luck finding yours, prayers are going out for you to be reunited.
I took my Rottie out in the street where the fireworks were being shot off (not close of course). \\; I socialized her from a very early age. \\; It is especially important for the big breeds like Rotties to not get freaked out by things then turn around and take a chunk out of someone or run off because they are frightened. \\; She enjoyed the fireworks, she wanted to chase them as they took off. \\; She got really excited at one point and lightly bit my hand but it wasn't aggression, just confusion. \\; She eventually relaxed to the point where she was laying down in the driveway, watching them with us. \\; When a dog goes for their CGC (Canine Good Citizen) certification, they will shoot a starter's pistol near the animal to see their reaction. \\; The should not react negatively in order to pass. \\; Preferably, they shouldn't react at all. \\; Expose your puppy to as much stimuli as possible. \\; Different situations, different kinds of people, loud noises, etc. \\; It will make them a well rounded pet who is comfortable in all types of environments.

[/Great advice, with hunt dogs we start very young with cap guns and work up to shotguns.. \\;
