I don't think it's photoshopped. I think It's just telephoto lens perspective distortion, as shown in the first pic below. That makes items in the background appear to pull up closer to the front.

It's not depth of field because everything is in focus from front to back. The second pic below shows narrow depth of field, a narrow band in focus.
