They have been paving a lot in my town, too. So that means, even after they lay down the asphalt, it's a week or so of plowing through gravel until the cars grind it in. It wasn't fun, and I panicked about gravel throwing the belt, but it was OK.

During the winter lots of times i have to ride on the side walk to get to the main streets were the snow is plowed in colorado if you plow the streets they dry up nice.

Been there, done that. Now I keep a house key on the same ring as my bike key/security fob.

You would think someone who lives in S. Florida would know all about the consequences of thunderstorms and power failures.
