RE: Windshield question
Never, never, never clean a windshield with windex. I was told it would "etch" the windshield permanantly. Never tried it but sure sounds like it does. I was told it was the reaction between the ammonia and the acrylic of the windshield. So for those with Black Denim paint who like to clean the paint with glass cleaner, watch out for overspray on your windshield if applicable. Sorry to hear that. Try some dish soap and water. Maybe it will help. Good luck.
You can polish plastic fairly easily. Check out plastic polishing kits from tar heel parts or caswell from $11 to $25. Just use a slow speed and don't get it to hot or it will melt, do small areas at a time and keep moving to different spots to keep the heat down. Cheaper than a new windsheild.
I second the suggestions in regards to polishing it. I've done it many times with plastics especially most Ford plastic headlamp covers after seeing years of road grime and dirt.
I have used amonia free glass cleaner for years with no problems. On the can it says safe for plastics.
Lookin to replace...these guys are great to deal with.
There are several third party mfg'rs that make Harley winshields - cost around $40. Would not mess with trying to fix your windshield - order a new one.
