Hey Bulldog
No offence, but come down from Fredrick and cruise rt 50 near Annapolis any day and you will see a lot of Md State boys on another call ! LOL Heck if I'm doing 60 in the 55 I better be in the slow lane. If I'm not in the slow lane I'm holding up trafic and may have a LEO tailgating me. [:@]

I'm not going to sit here and defend all LEO's who drive fast and disregard others safety on the road, that would be wrong. What I am saying is that when you do see a LEO speeding or driving throught a red light don't automatically assume they are just a jerk doing it just because they can. There is a a higher probabilty that they are answering a call, and if it was your emergency call they were answering you would be damn glad that they were speeding and driving through red lights and stop signs to get there to help you. Not all LEO's are Saints and some do things that not right but don't lump us all into that category.

If you have never pulled a decapitated body of a dead teenager from a car who just crashed drag racing, or have never responded to a domestic dispute where a husband has just killed his wife with a shotgun, or have never had to shoot a man standing five feet in front of you that just stabbed your partner, don't judge me for driving over the speed limit.

I am going to be there for everyone of you when you pick up the phone and dial 911. I don't care what your race, creed, color, sex, sexual orientation is or the fact that you hate the police. I am going to do my job to the fullest and if that means putting my life on the line to protect you and your family that is what I am going to do, no questions asked. So next time your complaining about the way you see an LEO driving, remember that.

Oh yeah, by the way it's BigDog not BullDog.

<RANT> OK ,this is my last post on this subject. Some of you cops just don't get it. Your job is to enforce the law; that in itself requires that you live by the same laws. I know that sometimes cops speed (without their lights on) because they are on a call. But he majority of the time, that is not the case. Every cop that I know personally that drinks, drinks and drives. Yet they have no problem arresting someone else for DUI. Yes, they are doing their job and I thank them for that, but it still burns my *** when I see them doing the same thing. You made reference to a bartender. Well, a bartenders job is to mix drinks. If he doesn't mix drinks, he should be fired. If it is your job to enforce the law and you knowingly break it yourself, YOU should be fired. Yes, you are held to a higher standard. If your unable to live up to it, you should probably find a new occupation. </RANT>

My theory on cops speeding past me on the freeway is that they are testing us. I see this most every weekend. Everyone is reminded of the speed limit & slows down. He usually goes a few miles ahead then stops & turns on the radar. The people that got instant lead foot as soon as he is out of sight get busted. They do it over & over & I always laugh when I see someone that got pulled over right after he passed them.
I personally dont get lead foot until I know for sure he's gone.

I apologize to any and all that I may have offended on this thread. On 3/1/06 I had to shoot and kill a suspect during a undercover drug deal where one of the the officers I supervise was stabbed twice. Even though the shooting was justified and I followed all of my Departments guidelines on the use of deadly force, I am still getting baked in the local newspaper and on their website by the suspects family and the liberals who believe that the police should try to shoot the knife out of the suspects hand or "shoot them in the kneecap". I'm just a little touchy at people blasting LEO's right now especially for speeding when all we do everyday to make the publics life safe.

Again my apologies if I offended anyone, this will be my last comment about this thread.

Bigdog,

Many of the public simply have not a clue what we go through to do the job and protect them. There should have been no offense taken by anything you said, you were just voicing your opinion. Not only that, but someone hijacked the thread onto this topic anyway.

I know what you are going through, and you have my prayers. Stay stong, and stay safe.

Bill
