Well that gizmo is pretty damned cool. My only confusion is will that small amount of movement from the lever allow the throttle to hold and then back off and be free again?
Get a throttle rocker, or Cramp buster, it was the first thing I bought and I will never go back.
I had a Throttle Rocker on a VTX 1800. The only downside to that device is that the rider cannot remove his right hand from the grip. Had "real" cruise on my '05 Road King Classic, and loved it. My '07 Electra Glide Classic has the thumbscrew, and while it isn't as nice as the "real" cruise, it works just fine.
A rider needs a few miles under their belt before using that as a cruise control device though. I've seen the panic look when, "Oh ****, now what?!?!?!?" After a little experience though, it works great for a "thinking man's crews control."
i use it to hold a faster idle without choke to warm up the bike, and for long (think 100+ mile) straights when im goin upstate visiting family
when the star screw broke from sun damage and old age my riding experience was completely different, but i got it replaced and i cant see using the bike without it, too many times it comes in handy
I remember this device from many years ago. It was damn near impossible to adjust while riding because it was a small knurled screw and didn't have the huge star shaped wheel that it does now. It was originally meant to use for warming a bike up, not as a cruise control.
xcelr8, I'll tell ya I hope I can get it work because my right hand continually goes numb and it doesn't take very many miles before it does. If this thing can actually work I won't have to replace my handlebars which would be really nice on the ole wallet.
The same thing happens to my hand but in my case it is not the handlebars or throttle that causes it to go numb. It goes numb because of carpel tunnel, so I will be getting operated on this winter.
