I'm new here and just got my first Harley, which is a somewhat customized 1997 Sportster 1200 (and my wife just got her first, a 2005 Sportster 883). Anyhow, being all fired up with Harley-spirit we went down to the dealer to get some cool Harley stuff. I really like sort of old-fashioned looking race style jackets, especially the "Classic Cruiser" "Thunder Hill" etc. So I'm stuck between that and thinking it's stupid, and pretty much contrary to everything I ever thought about riding a Harley, that they are selling a "Made in China" leather jacket for $400.
Anybody else got this problem - really want a Harley jacket, but can't go for "MIC" (unless they knock about $300 off the price)?
Look on ebay...I get all my stuff there. Try on the size at the dealer and make sure you get the item number then shop on ebay, chicago HD or Zanottis.
Kind of sucks, but being they’re hosting the Olympics this year and had a great bout on TV last night involving badminton, I purchased one. What a game, “NOT”

I already figured out Ebay is where I'm going for pretty much anything I see at the Harley dealer, but when I can get used USA-made leather jackets for $50-100, I'm not paying anybody's price for the MIC ones. Lowest I have seen is $275 anyhow and almost no used ones. When I see one for $75, maybe I'll go for it. Until then I have my $30 Made in USA "Excelled."
I bought one of the Torque jackets and so far I am happy with it. It was a little pricey at $450, but then again, around here in Edmonton, I certainly haven't seen many jackets under $300 that were worth a damn as a riding jacket. It seems to be a good heavy jacket, the venting works well on it. The only question is how long will it stand up, but time will tell.
I bought my Harley leather here on the forum, pretty
much 1/2 price, and brand new with the tags. It's a very well made jacket,
and is Made in the Good Old USA!!
I already had a real heavy leather made in Pakistan, but it has plastic zippers, and although it a very warm and heavy leather, it is now way even close
to my new Harley leather.
All the leather stuff at the dealer isn't MIC, there is some USA made in the mix.
