It's against the law for a dealer to tell you that routine maintenance has to be done by the dealer or else they'll void your warranty. I think it's called the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

i was thinking they could nto force you to go there for it i know when i bought my car they told me i could bring it back or do it my self but had to make sure i kept real good records for it or it could void warrenty.

basicaly what i got out of this is . if we dont do it we will void the warrenty if we can say it was your fault. lol . i did all my own work on the car and never had a issue with it.
thanks for the help on this

i dont think there is much maintenece to them, but you will have to check your owners manual. It has the maintence schedule in it and everything that needs checked, AND AT WHAT MILAGE. Your maintenece manualy tells you how to check it.

I do all of my services. Here is a spread sheet that I made and keep it in a log book with all receipts and additional notes. I document everything that I do, even if it is just to tighten one bolt.

Right. You now need the parts manual and the electrical diagnostic manual.

ok i need some more help with this now. going to go get the stuff needed for the oil change in the Am.
I know i need filter
Full syn.oil
think it was 3 quarts.
also i was told to get some gaskets to. is this right? looking in teh book i could not find that one. but figure i would ask.

Also can you tell me if im missing anything else? I have the filter wrench so that is a easy one.

Also any tips pn how to not get oil all over the side of the cases? this is one bitch i have on Harelys they put the filters int eh wrong place so they will leak all over the sid eof the motor as you take the filter off.
