My last bike was a 2013 Super Glide Custom. It came with a 96" motor, and when I bought it, I had made the agreement for them to build it up to a 103 Stage II, with SE 255 cams.
Now granted that is not going to be faster than some of you guys' bikes, but I did find my self shifting into 6th gear at 100! I past a friend on a Honda ST1300 at 105!
I decided if I didn't get rid of the bike, I would kill myself....and that is how I got my Limited.
I'm considering doing this to my engine over the next year or so (I just picked up the bike, so I'm eating ramen for a while) but haven't had a chance to talk with any real world examples.
Where do you feel like you get the biggest power boost? Low, Mid, or High range?
I find 90 mph pretty comfortable since I put a quarter fairing on my bike. The 80-90mph range seems to be where I like it the most on straight stretches of road.
But I have a tendency to goose it at those times, and quite often have looked down to to see the speedo over the 100 mph mark.
ive had my 04 cvo buried 120+, my 13 ultra was a slug and 105 was as high as i got it and it was choking, my current bike i have had up over 110 but i just got the bike so i havent been able to go out on too many rides yet. my fastest hd was my 08 cross bones. i had a stage 4 103 set up and i was on 95 next to a crotch rocket. we were just cruising so i kept going faster and faster (i knew he could blow my doors in) but we were just having a nice night ride. i finally pointed to my speedo and shrugged my shoulders asking how fast we were going....he replied with his fingers 1-4-1...so i had that springer front ended biotch up to 141 mph.....it was a blast
I kissed 90 mph once and am quite content cruising between 70 to 80 mph. I could have throttled to hit 100 but didn't see the point at the time. Maybe given a VeRY empty stretch of open road....maaaaybe
