Default No Premium gas?

Just curious as to how y'all handle this. Went out RT 33 in WV this w'end and alot of these rural gas stations only have 87 anf 89 octane. I started thinking..."I wonder how many of these guys are prepared for low octane fuel?"

Me? Well I know this area was like this so I carry octane booster just in case (usually have a camelback to carry small articles). But if you guys are riding into unfamiliar territory, especially RURAL territory, do you consider this? Do you take octane booster? If you carry it, where do you carry it? It's too big for my back pocket to be comfortable

What about this tablet form boosters, is this for real?

I never use premium gas in my harleys. And they both ride great without any high octane. The dealership service bike if you use reg gas in it will have a little bit of a knock. It's not going to hurt every now and then.

Since the lower octane gas burns a little better (all the detergents and such in the higher octane gas slows the burn down some.) it might not be that bad!

I typically use 91 and 89 every other tank or so (don't notice a difference at all between the two as far as knocking or performance, or gas mileage). When I get stuck in some of the more rural areas of Arizona and can't get it, I've used regular (87) and haven't had any problems either.

I use premium when I can but if I am somewhere that doesn't have it I just put in regular. My RK seems to run just fine on it.

I will useually fill up and get to an area where I can buy some octane boost and good gas, go to a gas station pour in the boost and top off. I dont think a short ride, taking it easy should hurt anything.

My bike knocks if I use any less than 94 octane... usually use whatever I can get though on a trip. I think I will start carrying some OB in my saddle bag though... I hate the knocks!

There is a different from lugging and knocking. Your harley is made for 90 octane. Overseas they are useing less octane for there Harleys.

I use premium all the time when it is availible. Dose'nt cost that that much more to fill up a six gallon tank.

I carry the capsules of "Rocket Fuel" octane booster. Each capsule treats five gallons or less of fuel. Just snip the end off and squeeze it in the tank and you are ready to go. If you have a hard time finding it E-Mail me. Hope this helps.
